RSHE - our end of year news

21st July, 2020

We know what a challenging time this academic year has proved to be personally and professionally for so many. The Educator Solutions team remain enormously proud of the continued efforts of our schools as they support their whole-school community through the promotion of healthy relationships, health and wellbeing. Never have these subjects been of greater importance.

On 4 June 2020 DfE provided confirmation to schools that ‘The subjects will still become compulsory from 1 September 2020.' However, schools have flexibility to decide how they discharge their duties effectively. If a school is unable to begin teaching until summer term 2021 they will need to decide how much of the content they will be able to cover and should still be able to demonstrate how they will cover the entirety of the curriculum in the future.

Find out more about recent RSHE development please watch our 40-minute RSHE briefing video. This JUne 2020 briefing has been specifically designed for SLT, PSHE leads, Governors and subject specialist leads.

Thank you to all the schools that participated in our RSHE survey. We have listened to your needs and responded through the redesign of our RSHE programme of support. Several the tools have been updated to reflect the current circumstances schools are preparing for statutory RSHE in, including the whole-school approach action plan. Additionally, the CPD options are now available through independently accessible modules, accompanied by a toolkit of fully customisable resources. These cover the areas you told us you still needed support:

  • Effective parental engagement
  • Promoting pupil participation
  • Staff CPD
  • Assessment – measuring the impact.

We look forward to springing into statutory with you on 1st September 2020 with additional resources and guidance. Full details of our autumn term online training and support will be announced shortly!
