Statutory Assessment

There are a number of statutory assessments at key points during a pupil’s educational journey. These occur when pupils have completed the EYFS and the programmes of study for key stages 1, 2 and 4, usually at the ages of 5, 7, 11 and 16. There is also a statutory check of phonics at the end of year 1 (age 6). The outcomes of statutory assessments are used to judge school performance and all those responsible for assessments should have an understanding of the information and guidance on administering assessments via the Standards and Testing Agency.
