Clerking Development High quality professional clerking is crucial to the effective functioning of the governing board. The Clerk to Governors has a key role in school governance, they undertake administrative tasks efficiently and ensure that procedures are followed and statutory duties are met enabling the governing board to understand its role, functions and legal duties so that it can stay focused on its core responsibilities. We are delighted to offer a range of professional development options for clerk: Accredited Clerk Programme The Accredited Clerk programme is a nationally recognised level 3 qualification designed for experienced clerks already working in schools and Trust settings. It helps clerks to develop their knowledge and skills even further, leading to increased confidence and higher quality clerking. The programme runs throughout an academic year and looks at up to seven competency areas (depending on the pathway selected by candidates) with clearly defined performance criteria for each. The ‘Accredited Clerk’ programme is validated by ‘Information for School and College Governors (ISCG) and is operated, under licence, by Hampshire Governor Services. Educator Solutions has joined with Hampshire County Council to offer this award. The cost for the programme is £650 Clerks’ Development Programme The National Governance Association (NGA) is a not-for-profit organisation with a strong track record of delivering governance leadership programmes across England. Educator Solutions is working in partnership with NGA and facilitating the Clerks’ Development Programme across Norfolk. This accredited programme is designed for new and experienced clerks working in all school and trust settings and offers a blend of flexible learning over approximately a nine month period. Led by experienced facilitators, participants will attend workshops and access effective one-to-one mentoring throughout the duration of this programme. Effective Minutes Taking This course provides practical guidance for people who are tasked with taking minutes, often with little guidance on what they are expected to produce.
