STEM Mini Sessions Our half day mini sessions offer innovative inquiry based educational experiences and challenges designed to be pupil-centred, cross-curriculum and relevant to the real world. These can be delivered either in school or at the Kinesis Centre in Norwich. STEM Mini sessions available for you to select: Jitterbugs The JitterBugs session allows pupils to design a creature (the JitterBug) which adapts to a habitat and has characteristic which are inline with a species group. By the end of the session pupils will have learnt about different species groups and their characteristics, as well as species adaptation and habitats. Minimum and maximum number of pupils: 20/40. Key stage(s): KS1 / SK2 Price at the Kinesis Centre: £12 per pupil Price at school with STEM instructor: £12 (+ travel) Predator Prey via Coding This session will allow pupils to explore the predator-prey relationship in a whole new way. In this session the pupils will use Ozobots (a small code-able robot) to present predator and prey interaction and how genetic differences (the code) can affect the population level of prey and predators as well as, food chains and evolution and inheritance. Pupils can use this session to plot population trends. Minimum and Maximum number of pupils: 20/34 Key stage(s): KS2 / SK3 Price at The Kinesis Centre: £13 per pupil Price at School with STEM instructor: £13 per pupil (+ travel) Self-Delivery options - rental of Ozobots for one week: £180 (The equipment can either be collected from the centre or delivered to school at an extra cost.) Stuck in Space Stuck in Space is a session in which the pupils will work in teams to rescue a team member who is stuck outside the spaceship! The teams will have a box of resources (the Tac Tic boxes) from which they have to design a rescue pod. The pupil will have to work as a team to design a structure to support the lost member without touching the fiery lava floor of a distant planet. Minimum and Maximum number of pupils: 20/40 Key stage(s): KS1 / SK2 Price at Centre: £13 per pupil Price at School with STEM instructor: £13 per pupil (+ travel) Self-delivery options - rental of Tic Tac: £150 (The equipment can either be collected from the centre or delivered to school at an extra cost). Minecraft Education This half day workshop will enable pupils to quickly get started with Minecraft, understanding how the basic controls work and how to begin constructing in Creative Mode. A series of challenges will be set throughout the workshop which will cater for beginners through to pupils who are already Minecraft experts. By the end of the workshop, pupils will have worked collaboratively to recreate a well know fairytale within Minecraft, enabling a player to walk through the entire story. This session can only be delivered at the Kinesis Centre. Minimum and Maximum number of pupils at Centre: 20/36 Key stage(s): KS2 / SK3 Price at the Kinesis Centre: £14 per pupil Robotics Roadshow The Robotics Roadshow offers the ability to teach pupils about basic technology / computer science skills and concepts to solve practical quests. The Robotics Roadshow makes coding fun, accessible and easy to teach. It helps educate pupils on the fundamental principles of computer science via these unique, programmable, quick-fit construction kits which can be built into multiple exciting robots! This roadshow will inspire your pupils and support the curriculum. This innovative STEM project has the potential to link to a national robotics competition. Minimum and maximum number of pupils: 20/40 Key stage(s): KS2 / SK3 Price at The Kinesis Centre: £13 per pupil Price at School with STEM instructor: £13 per pupil (+ travel) This session has no equipment hire option. STEM Games The STEM Games session is based along the lines of “The Crystal Maze” TV programme. Teams of pupils will compete against each other to complete a number of different STEM challenges based around one or more of the STEM disciplines. Pupils will learn about key Science, Technology (computing), Engineering and Mathematic concepts and with the way in which this is embedded in small mini challenges students will be completely immersed in learning and learning via stealth. This session is a student led learning session, allowing pupils to apply their knowledge to many different situations, as well as, working as a team. Minimum and maximum number of pupils: 20/34 Key stage(s): KS1 / SK2 / SK3 Price at the Kinesis Centre: £12 per pupil Price at school with STEM instructor: £12 per pupil (+ travel) To book a STEM Mini Session please do email STEM@Educatorsolutions.org.uk or call us to discuss options on 01603 307715.
