  • All FREE to East Sussex Schools - this high-quality, evidence-based programme of support is completely free thanks to East Sussex Public Health.

Why should East Sussex schools take-up this offer?

All schools must meet the new statutory requirements of the Relationships, Relationships and Sex (RSE) and Health Education guidance. Schools are being encouraged to become ‘early adopters’ by the DfE, and must be completely compliant by September 2020. Key aspects are in scope for Ofsted inspection.

With 46% of pupils rating their RSE as requiring improvement (2017 East Sussex Health Related Behaviour Survey), and 38% of teachers not feeling prepared to teach the pivotal subject (2018 Sex Education Forum survey), there is considerable work to be done. Meeting the demand can seem overwhelming, hard to know where to begin and will prove time consuming to achieve without adequate resources and support. The ESCC PSHE Solution has been designed to ensure compliance is as simple as possible.

What do Schools need to know?

  • The programme must be led by a member of SLT or PSHE Lead.
  • Schools must commit to attending at least one training course. The training can be attended by any member of staff.
  • Schools will be required to repeat completion of the ESCC PSHE Solution Readiness Calculator at the end of the programme, to demonstrate progress. This will take around 10 minutes.

How do East Sussex Schools sign-up or find out more?

  • All East Sussex schools will shortly be sent a link to an online ESCC PSHE Solution Readiness self review.
  • A member of your schools SLT or PSHE lead need to complete the online self review.
  • An Educator Solutions Advisor will contact your school to discuss bespoke needs etc.
  • Please do email us to find out more or call 01603 307710
